Why do I practice yoga?

WHY Yoga? How Yoga? Where did it begin?

Awareness; being in touch with how intentional breath can increase our awareness of how wild our minds can be.

Moving from the 'monkey- mind' into the body helps us discover that we can live more from the heart. When we realize that we have fears that tend to pop up, and then dissolve, we have more awareness of how powerful we are in our ability to move through these natural cycles in a mindful way. Yoga is layered.

Many start by exploring the physical benefits, then the doors begin to open.

Can you just sit with your breath? How can you translate the awareness from your practice to make it a practice in the parts of your life? The simple parts like driving or watching and listening to what is happening around you. Becoming the observer for a few deep breaths. I like to look at the opportunity to practice yoga as a time to 'rinse…. physically and mentally; my yoga mat is a place to gain perspective and hit the reset button.

For the MIND: Lowers stress, balances emotions and focus, develops healthy habits, increases patience and self-discipline

For the BODY: Increases energy and coordination, develops body awareness, support healthy joints, improves balance

For the SPIRIT: Get grounded, develop compassion and improve mood, build a sense of well being

It has saved me in the toughest times, let my heart open, when all I wanted to do was curl into a ball of tears, and uplifted me through my translation of the practice with others. This is where I stand now. Letting it all out, no walls, pulling it all into the room and spilling it out in order to support, love and uplift… everyone within reach. I have nothing to hide.

Time to express, push the limits and hold people up to find a deeper, broader and clearer outward voice.
